"Graco Magnum XR/7 good for occasional use?"

Hi.

I've located a used XR/7 that's going for $175. Seems like a good price if the guy's telling the truth on it being very lightly used.

My main use for a sprayer is to exterior painting of my house and several outbuildings, and maybe eventually other properties. My intention is to use the sprayer to get the paint up fast and then to brush or roll it out (I have a lot of old paint to contend with).

I tend to buy the best quality I can, though I know there's uncertainty in used equipment. I see at the local Home Depots they have in their rental centers used Airlessco sprayers in the neighborhood of $1100, which, quite frankly, is too expensive even for me. Then they off the new consumer line of Titan sparyers.

I gather from searching this forum that the XR/7 is comparable to the middle/lower end of the Titan consumer line. I won't be spraying on anything like a professional basis but will be spraying whole sides of a house at a time.

Any suggestions or feedback very much appreciated.

I just got back from HD an realized that I had it wrong on their Airlessco pricing. They rent the LP540 and sell it *new* for about $1500 (special order).

They also happened to have a used one for sale for $550. The guy said it was 3 years old and had been rented 78 times during that period. He said an Airlessco guy had just been around and looked over all the machines.

So I was thinking at a ballpark of 10 gallons per rental that would come to 780 gallons of paint having been shot. I know this is an industrial unit but does that seem like a lot of paint?

Thanks,

-jim
