We are always on the look out for on-line resources
and tools that you can use to help start, run and market your
professional painting or wallcovering business. You will even
find some resources dedicated to craft of painting here although
most of these resources are on the Resources/Links page. We
want to do our best to add to these links so they represent
the most comprehensive source on the Internet for professional
painters. If you know of a site that would be useful please
let us know at administration@painterschatroom.com
and we will check into adding it to this page.

Every
time we find a new resource that we think may be useful we will
post it here first to save so keep checking back here.
Considering that it is all new right now let's
just highlight a few of things you will find here. So here we
go.

Pro's
Secrets. This series of articles covering both painting
information and some marketing and business ideas has been
transferred from the old site to the new one. Click on the
link on the left and check them out. They are great. Also,
we would love to have members submit new tricks of the trade!
We'd be happy to post them.

The
PCRA link will take you to the member page for marketing.
You'll find lots of good stuff there so check it and NAPP
out. Members of PCRA qualify for discounts for marketing
services from NAPP!

There are several paint companies who have
developed programs that are designed to help the painter grow
his or her business, 'ICI,' 'Porter,' 'PPG' to just name a
few. Many of the programs offer a broad spectrum of support
from signage to the ability to look up your account online.
The most complete program we have ever seen is Duron's Painters
Advantage program. The link will take you to their site. The
only downside is that they are only on the East Coast. If
any of your suppliers are doing something special to help
out painters, let us know and we will be happy to post the
information. In coming months we will add comparison information
regarding all of the supplier programs we can find.

VistaPrint
is a Web Site where you can order business cards and other
printed materials online. Generally the prices on these items
are pretty good but the big thing is the convenience. You
can order and not take time away from painting.
-
BusinessTown.com
is an interesting site where we felt that you might be able
to pick up some inexpensive ideas to market your business.
In particular check out the articles on "Marketing Tricks
for the Frugal Budget", "Newsletters Turn Buyers
into Customers", and "Build Customer Loyalty! Build
Customer Loyalty!" No, this is not a typo. While it is
not a painters site, marketing is marketing.

Each
month we will post a "Marketing Tip of the Month" here.
One of the most effective, inexpensive but often
overlooked marketing tools is the lowly door hanger. They are
easy to get and even easier to use. Consider having some made
with the verbiage, "We are in your neighborhood
"
and then during lunch or another break during the day spend a
few minutes putting them out on homes on either side of where
you are working. It only takes a few minutes to put out a couple
of dozen and you'd be surprised at what can happen.
We know of a painter who did this religiously.
Just after he started doing this he got a call from a general
contractor who was looking for a painter. When the painter asked
how the contractor had found out about him he said that a door
hanger was left on his door. You never know what good things might
happen.

We
know that there is an invaluable wealth of knowledge and information
among all of you who visit this site. All you have to do is take
a look at the posts on the Message Board to tell. It is also obvious
that sharing information and ideas with fellow painters is something
that you all do. Because of that we would like to invite you to
Share the Wealth.
We invite you to submit a Pro's Secret or Marketing
Tip for publication on PaintersChatRoom. Once we review and accept
it, we will post it and give you the credit. You will get a link
on this page to your article for a month.
To submit an idea or article, e-mail us at thepaintguy@painterschatroom.com.
