Use Sticky Notes

Did you know that sticky notes could save you both time and confusion when it comes to painting? When a client has a special request, like please don't tape up my bedroom window, so I can have fresh air tonight. Just say, please put a sticky note on that window and I will tell the guys not to do that one.

When a client says, your guys missed a spot. You got it! A sticky note marks the spot. This way they don't have to waste time hunting around looking for it. On repaints you can use them to write the colors right on the wall for your crews. This way they are not guessing what color goes where.

On new construction jobs, I actually go through and write the color in pencil right on the actual walls. When I do a final punch list for my own guys. I go through with my own sticky notes. This way they are sure not to miss anything. Just think how much money it cost you for even one of the simplest touch-ups if your guys miss it the first time. Yes, sticky notes can save you time and money.

One caution, sometimes an anal client can pick up on this idea and pepper a house with them. But, I think they would have done that sticky note or not. At least now you have an idea of what they are talking about.
